Context

Requisition friction is an invisible tax on hiring. Before a role is ever posted, it often waits in email threads for approvals, and every day there is a day the seat stays empty. For a smaller Indian firm where the same person may own approvals, sourcing, and manager coordination, that upfront delay compounds fast, and a faster requisition step feels like an obvious win.

But speed at the front of the funnel raises a different question at the back: when someone is finally placed, can the firm explain why. A CRM and a manager-visibility app make the process faster and more visible, yet visibility into activity is not the same as an auditable reason for each placement. The interesting gap is what that reason adds beyond raw speed.

What the source reports

Phenom reports that OmniCable automated requisition creation and approval, added a Talent CRM, and gave hiring managers a visibility app. According to Phenom, creating a new requisition dropped to under 90 seconds, compared with days of email back-and-forth previously.

Phenom also states time-to-fill fell from 50 days to 33 days and reports 80% hiring-manager adoption of the tooling. These figures have no stated publication date in the material provided, so they carry no confirmed date and should be re-verified against a dated source before they inform any plan.

What an Indian SMB should inspect before copying this

Separate the speed metric from the decision record. A sub-90-second requisition and a shorter time-to-fill measure how fast the pipe moves, not whether each placement can be justified later. Ask whether the system records an auditable reason per placement, so that if a hire is questioned months on, the firm can point to the ranking logic and the human judgement that stood behind it rather than just a timestamp.

Inspect adoption honestly. An 80% adoption figure tells you managers logged in, not that decisions improved. Ask what 'adoption' counts, and whether faster requisitions are quietly pushing weak roles into the market. Hold the stance: automate ranking and coordination, never auto-reject, and require a reason for each decision. For a lean Indian team, ask what ongoing admin the CRM demands before you commit.

Where the analogy breaks

OmniCable is a specialist distributor with defined professional roles and a manageable requisition volume, so a CRM-and-visibility model fits neatly. That structure does not transfer to SMBs running high-volume, walk-in, or informal hiring, where the constraint is applicant coordination and screening rather than approval routing. A tool that shines on requisition workflow may barely touch the bottleneck a floor-heavy Indian employer actually faces.

The 50-to-33-day improvement reflects one organisation's internal approval bottleneck, so it says little about firms whose delay lives elsewhere in the funnel. Likewise, 80% manager adoption depends on a workforce already comfortable with such tooling; smaller teams with fewer, busier managers and phone-first habits may adopt very differently, and the requisition-speed gain will not automatically produce a better or more defensible hire.

Where this connects to Orkivanta's own work

An auditable reason per placement

Orkivanta's Resume Screening Agent focuses on what a faster requisition alone doesn't give you: a defensible, recorded reason behind each ranking and placement.
